Baer "The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley $28 has inviting aromas of currant, blackberry, black cherry, leather, tobacco, dark chocolate, and sweet, smoky oak. All continue as flavors laced with nice bright acidity and fine grained tannin and carry through the long, medium-broad finish. Easily drinkable now, it will be even better with a three to five more years in the bottle to develop and open and has the structure and balance to drink well for a decade. This is not a blockbuster, super ripe, heavily extracted wine but is styled to go on the table with a meal. Bargain priced."

Icaria Creek Winery makes only elegantly structured and balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with alcohol in the low 13% range from estate hillside vineyards located in the Alexander Valley about one-half way between Asti and Cloverdale. The only regret is that they don’t make more.
